The Up to Date Bits and Pieces
The Documentary 'Britains Whitest Family' went out on Channel 4 on Friday 3 October 200at 7.35pm and Channel 4 + 1 at 8.35pm. I have had an enormous amount of positive feedback from this documentary. If you missed it you can catch up with it on www.channel4.com and download and watch it.
Unfortunately I did get one or two (literally ) negative comments. They were from family, not my own family though. It saddens me that when I go to so much effort to help people with this condition and help people understand the condition more that people whom I know feel they have to have a go at me over it.
Again, if anyone wants to vent steam or talk to a Ninja Mum from Hell (as my kids now call me) give me feed back, e-mail me, leave messages on the forum or guest book or if all else fails ring or text me on 07859 848772 or 07775 844296 I will always be glad to make new contacts and friends.it when he gets home.
Well done to Darnell Swallow who came 5th in Big Brother 9, it was entertaining watching you, you were a good advocate for people with albinism, you showed how difficult it is to fit into society, how eyesight is effected and how people react to you. Well Done Mickey Hughes for coming second, a champion for the blind, outspoken, fun and caring, I will miss you. Can't wait till you are back on Insight Radio and we all listen to you again.
21 SEPTEMBER 2008
What a busy time we have had of late.
Poor James spent some time in hospital last week with breathing problems. He had a nasty cold and it was going to his chest so I wrote a letter to the school PE teacher to excuse him from games. The policy at school is if you are not doing PE you still have to get changed for it. Then they asked him to join in and stop when or if he got tired. It was jumping and throwing a ball at the same time, but this left him breathless and when he did not jump and throw at the same time he was made to do 10 press ups as punishment. Needless to say he came home clutching his chest, trying to cry but not even having enough breath to do that and he was a lovely blue colour. So off to the hospital we went. He was tachycardic, had high blood pressure and his asthma was exasberated and he needed to be nebulised.
He then spent a week of school recuperating, I phoned the school to let them know why he was off and when he would be back in, so imagine my surprise a day later when I received a text message and e-mail asking me where James is and why he is not in school. So again I phoned and text to say why and when he would be back. Then to my even greater surprise a teacher incharge of finding truants phoned me on Friday and again asked why James had not been in school. By this time I had had quite enough and I told her straight that he was off because of poor communication in the school. She did not like this.
Shanley was also off school with a nasty cold for a few days, as was Peter as he collapsed at work with it.H
Joey is driving us nuts at the moment, I took him to our local music school which is run by the council and enrolled him in a group called Bump, which is Jazz music, they have drums, and percussion, bass guitar and 6 string, cornets, trumpets and saxophones. He loved it and so did I. It took me right back to my days in the orchestra. All the other kids had taken their own bits of kit in, so I bought Joey some pro drumsticks in a special carry case and a snare drum with stand, sticks and bag. He plays very well as he has been playing the drums since he was around 3 years old.
Unfortunately the dog (Alice Cooper) does not like the snare drum at all and harrasses Joey if he tries to play it down stairs, a video of this can be seen on www.youtube.co.uk if you type in moshpot08 you can view all of Joeys vids.
We try to tackle all negative albino comments with humour, if you didn't you would go mad.W
