He manages very well and it gives him a little bit of independance out of the home setting. Alot of the sites regarding Albinism seem to deal with animals and freaks, which is not at all good unless you are into fluffy white bunnies with pink eyes, very cute but not that interesting really.
The RNIB have a hotel in Blackpool that caters for guests with partial or total sight loss and I believe it is a very good hotel and well worth a visit. They also run adventure holidays for children and a monthly newsletter that I find of great interest.
Henshaws For The Blind based in Bolton is a very helpful group of people, I'l try to get more information on this group for you.
There is a Charity Run Organisation in Bolton also called Vision Aid but is nothing to do with above website. When Jonathan was a baby this organisation helped me greatly in getting the help I needed and hints and tips on toys that would be of help to him. They have a toy library too. They can be found at: Vision Aid, 106 Junction Road, Deane, Bolton telephone number 01204 64265.
For specatacles for children I have found Specsavers are very good, the staff are all very friendly and understanding and they have an excellent range of frames to suit most people. They are a National Optical Retailer and there should be one in your area.
If you still require more information please get in touch with me via the Contact page and I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I possibly can.
There is one very special site, one that has nothing to do with Albinism, but a site that changed my life. In fact its a site that saved my life. Thanks to this site, my diabetes is in good control, my health is much improved and I have lost an enormous amount of weight. The woman you see on these pages (ie Me) used to be 19 stones 5 lbs. My miracle site and you really should have a look is
www.slimtone.co.uk.
